LAMBVILLE UPDATES

Reading:

This week we are starting UNIT 3 in Open Court. The theme is "THINGS THAT GO!". Please feel free to send your child in with pictures that relate to this topic. We are concentrating this week on long and short "O's" along with the "J and G" sounds. The students will be working on our concept board, creating venn diagrams and even beginning a readers theater project. Remember to try out RAZ if you have not already!

Math:

We are now starting UNIT 3 in Everyday Math. The students will be looking at number patterns and begin developing an understanding of even/odd numbers. Be sure to continue at home working on Pennies/Nickels and clocks. Although we finished Unit 2, it is still a good idea to continue exposing the students to these concepts, as they will come up again.

Writing:

The Lambville writing is AMAZING. I hope you all got to see the crab projects we sent home last week! They are doing an wonderful job and each student is starting to develop their own writing voice! We are working on the following objectives this week. 1- Students will use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence. 2- The students will use correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. 3- The students will practice using commas when listing items in a sentence. 4-Students will complete "v" and "w" in their HWT workbooks. 5- Students will complete a weekly spelling test of five words.

Social Studies/Science:

Our first unit is MATTER. The students will create a venn diagram listing both the similarities and differences between two solids!
